Giving 110%

We attended "Bedside Baptist" this morning, in Beaufort, SC.
Surfing the channels, we found Hour of Power.
Haven't watched that show in years.  I believe this pastor's grandfather was the minister at that time!
This young pastor was spot on!

Have you ever heard that song, "While I'm Waiting"?
Here are the lyrics:
I'm waiting, I'm waiting on You Lord
And I am hopeful, I'm waiting on You Lord
Though it is painful, but patiently I will wait
And I will move ahead bold and confident
Taking every step in obedience
While I'm waiting I will serve You
While I'm waiting I will worship
While I'm waiting I will not faint
I'll be running the race even while I wait
I'm waiting, I'm waiting on You Lord
And I am peaceful, I'm waiting on You Lord
Though it's not easy no, but faithfully I will wait
Yes, I will wait
And I will move ahead bold and confident
Taking every step in obedience
While I'm waiting I will serve You
While I'm waiting I will worship
While I'm waiting I will not faint
I'll be running the race even while I wait
I will move ahead bold and confident
I'll be taking every step in obedience, yeah
While I'm waiting I will serve You
While I'm waiting I will worship

Sung by John Waller

The Pastor this morning, brought up the Scripture:
Colossians 3:23
"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for man..."

God wants us to give 110% to everything we do.
You mean even when we don't have our "dream job" yet?  YUP!!
You mean even if we don't LIKE our boss, or the work, or the co-workers?  YUP!
You mean, even if we haven't had a raise in 3 years, and we aren't appreciated?  YUP!

2 Thessalonians 3:10
For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.”

How many young kids do you know that live at home even into their 20's rent free!?
How many young people do you know that think their first home purchase needs to be their DREAM home, and they refuse to "settle" on anything less?

Whatever happened to working hard and earning the privileges and blessings that come from giving your work your all?  And....learning to wait!  And learning that not everything comes easy.  And...sometimes it doesn't come at all.

Well.....what if you DO give your work your all, and you feel like you're going BACKWARDS, instead of forward?  What if you give MORE than 110%, and have been for years and years?  What if you just haven't seen the fruit of your labor, and you are weary, and overwhelmed and wondering if you have "enough" in you for tomorrow?????

Here's the real test!  Here's the real challenge....here's where you realize that life is more than just working for a reward!

My favorite inspirational speaker, Jim Rohn, says that It's not about the challenges, it's about who you BECOME through the challenges.
It's about BECOMING!  It's about serving, and loving, and giving, and hoping, and being a blessing, and it's about working hard!
We do our work for the Lord!
Can we sweep floors for the Lord?  Of course!
Can we do yard work, care for children, cook for the family, clean toilets, and work a job we don't feel we should be at FOR THE LORD?   A RESOUNDING YES!!

You know what else?
When you feel like you are going backwards instead of forward.....WHAT IF that going backward is you being pulled back in a metaphorical sling shot?!  What if all of this pulling back is preparing you for when God launches you forward??!!!  Isn't that exciting?  Isn't that hopeful?  Isn't that worth getting all of the preparedness you can get, while you are waiting?!!

Let's think about that!  It puts a smile of hope on my face!
Have a great week!
Pam
